On an early spring day I noticed these flowers in my mother’s garden and saw something in them. I don’t know what exactly. I fetched my camera, took a photo and started to paint it. As I spent more time with this image new patterns and narratives emerged. I noticed that the flowers were quite moth-like or elfish, with wings and a pair of glowing aggressive eyes. They seemed quite mischievous and hypnotic too. They seemed to be slowly drifting downwards towards the bottom frame, where there is a strange disruption of simulacra that could be interpreted as a pool of water, or perhaps as a glimpse of what lies beyond the frame.
