Midsummer #25
2019, Acrylic on board, 100x60cm
This is my second attempt at the same image. I am trying to repeat something, but unable to do so. Machines are good at copying and repetition. They do these functions very quickly in some cases, but never quite achieve an exact copy of the original. If the copies are placed next to each other and as my eye glances from one copy to another, a sort of ’animation’ is created by the differences. These animations can be quite fascinating. Andy Warhol’s famous ’Marilyn Diptych’ (1962) functions in this way.
