Local image #27-29 Triptych
2019, Acrylic on board, 40x40cm (each panel)
When I contemplate these paintings I think of pristine underwater wilderness, clean, pure, gentle, untouched by humans, untouched by corruption. I tried to capture this moment in a photograph but it would need a far better photographer than me. Maybe some things just don't translate from painting to photograph.

I have been using repetition as a device lately. It highlights the subtle differences between the copies and the contingency within the artmaking process. When taken together, I wonder if these repetitions reveal the truth more? Is this a way of seeing in more dimensions? Do I get a better sense of what is real?

Another narrative that I hold for this piece relates to the old testament where Moses encounters the presence of God in a burning bush. I can see this as my vision or version of that encounter.
I took this picture after contemplating this work to try and capture the moment, but I don't think it comes through.
